Laboratory Research Coordinator (part-time) - Department of Neuroscience - Georgetown University Medical Center
The overarching goal of Georgetown’s Department of Neuroscience is to improve brain health through discovery research. We focus on brain disorders that become increasingly worse as people age, like Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, response to infections, depression, seizures, and recovery from a head injury. These disorders often affect memory, the ability to communicate, movement, and general mental well-being. We seek to understand what underlies these disorders to discover early detection methods and new therapies to improve health.
Job Overview
The Laboratory Research Coordinator - in a part-time role - has an essential role in supporting experiments for a currently funded R01 grant in duties that include but are not limited to:
- Recruiting, contacting, screening, testing, and following up with blind and sighted participants
- Assisting behavioral data collection from the blind cohort, as well as the initial quality assurance of fMRI and behavioral data
- Perform administrative tasks such as coordinating with the GU Institutional Review Board, and managing participant reimbursements
- Supporting the daily operation of the laboratory
Work Interactions
The Laboratory Research Coordinator reports to Dr. Striem-Amit, Assistant Professor of Neuroscience and Principal Investigator, and to Dr. Maria Czarnecka, a postdoctoral research fellow joining the lab.
As well, they support the work of a graduate student who is assisting the completion of the thesis research.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience in a previous laboratory
- Minimal computer coding capacities
